| Band | Title | Description |
| Vadim Von | Abyssus Diabolorum | Black/death metal here. At times majestic sounding but also showing some flashy guitar chops. Two different vocal approaches used, death metal style. Limited to 66 copies on Eradication Process Productions. |
| Valdesgard | Umr At Tawil | Old French band from 1998, their only release. Blasting, aggressive, raging and well executed. Nice rough sound. Six tracks in total. |
| Valkrja | Far Beyond | Swedish bm in the style that the Swedes are known for: fast, blasting, clean. Includes a Dissection cover. |
| Vampyr | Wamphyric Fullmoon | This is very rough and very lo-fi, almost unlistenable. Only for freaks who really like it on the nasty side. |
| Varathron | His Majesty At The Swamp | Debut full length from the respected long running Greek outfit. A cornerstone of the Greek style. If you are not familiar, check it out. Includes a bonus track. Demonion/Night Birds Records. |
| Varathron | Walpurgisnacht | 2nd full length from 1995. Classic Greek style, rough around the edges, underproduced, synths. Demonion/Night Birds Records. |
| Varathron | Genesis of Apocryphal Desire | Compiles demo tracks, previously unreleased tracks and the One Step Beyond Dreams 7". Elite Greek bm. Demonion/Night Birds Records. |
| Varathron | The Lament Of Gods | Greek black metal on Night Bird Records. |
| Varghkoghargasmal | Call of the Raven | Pagan metal. Seems this is a re-issue of the demo plus two songs from an ep. Funeral Agency. |
| Vargleide | When Only Ashes and Scortched Earth are Left Behind | Oh yeah, BBH cult. This is what Forest supposedly morphed into. Indeed it does sound just like Forest, better than that last Forest album that came out in my opinion. Classic Russian nsbm, excellent material. Stellar Winter. |
| Vartagorh | Le brouillard des tourments | Very good slow, depressive band from Canada. Good raw sound to go with it as well. Too bad this band is R.I.P I believe. |
| Vassafor | Demo I | Two tracks from this band hailing from New Zealand. Very interesting sound, full chugging guitars, dry sounding. Drakkar Productions. |
| Vassafor | Demo II | A logical progression from the first demo, more mature. Drakkar Productions. |
| Vazal | Uit Haat Herrezen | Razor sharp raw Dutch black metal. One of the few releases before this band folded. Smeared with just a little blood. Limited to 100 copies. |
| Velaad | Hvilans Boning | New Swedish band with their debut demo. Playing in the style that Insikt has become synonymous with, long, slower type songs. |
| Velatorio | Devour Dreams of the Mystic Mountain | Traditional black metal in the raw, Nordic vein, but doing so with plenty of variety. Limited to 100 copies on Sad Spirit Productions. |
| Venedae | 1993-2003 | As the name implies, tracks taken throughout the ten year period. Melodic Polish pagan black metal. Hammer of Damnation. |
| Vermen | The End of Mankind | Raw, straightforward bm from Portugal. Very good vocal work and well executed riffs. Limited to 100 copies on Stricto Sensu Records. |
| Vernictung | Gewaltbereitschaft | Six track demo from this one man German band. The label describes it as raw primitive cult black metal in the old German vein like old Absurd, Damonenblut and Prietermord. Limited to 288 copies on Thule Records. |
| Vetala | Demo I | Rough, raw and lo-fi debut demo from this outfit. Seven tracks in total. At times this is quite akin to Belketre, I was quite surprised. Metal Legions approved! Black Circle Propaganda. |
| Vexillum | Höllenpropheterie | Chaotic and cacophonous black metal with unique compositions and sound. Raging, impulsive songs, accompanied by disturbing vocals. Captured by chaos rituals, occult and spiritualism, exploring the borders of "metal music"; an anti-melodic representation of chaos. Thanks Arjan you NF. |
| Vexillum | Templum Interior | Second storm of chaotic and cacophonous black metal with the same unique sound and morbid atmosphere of the first tape. A fast and devastating anti-melodic representation of chaos. Heidens Hart. |
| Via Dolorosa | Mahabharata | This is the first time I have ever heard of this band hailing from Italy and they have quite an extensive discography. Anyway, this tape contains a rehearsal and a live performance. Nothing pretty sounding here. AMF Productions. |
| Vide | S/T | A proper demo release from this young US act. Primitive and very noisy material. At times it almost sounds like a wall of distortion with the music trying to fight through the chaos. Unrelenting and punishing in its infantile state. Rough around the edges, but given time to control the chaos, Vide will become more lethal. Northern Sky Productions. |
| Viha | From the Mist | More black metal from Finland. Apparently this material is already a bit old, being recorded in 2005. Traditional Finnish style, good raw production. Drakkar website describes as blah blah blah Warloghe! Quite a selling point eh? |
| Vike Tare | The Tide of Revelation | Description coming... |
| Vinterriket/Northaunt | Split | Ambient material from both bands ranging from calm and serene to more majestic, epic sounding pieces. |
| Vinterriket | ...Und Die Nacht Kam Schweren Schrittes | German black metal/ambient. Winterreich Records. |
| Vinterriket | Winterschaften | German black metal/ambient. Winterreich Records. |
| Vinterriket | Landshaften Ewiger Einsamkeit Entgegen | German black metal/ambient. Winterreich Records. |
| Vinterriket | Der Letzte Winter - Der Ewigkeit Entgegen | German black metal/ambient. Winterreich Records. |
| Vinterriket | Von Eiskristallen...Und Dem Ewigen Chaos | German black metal/ambient. Winterreich Records. |
| Vinterriket | 7-Zoll Kollektion | German black metal/ambient. Winterreich Records. |
| Vinterriket | Landschaften Ewiger Einsamkeit | German black metal/ambient. Winterreich Records. |
| Volkolak | Hail To The God Of The Son | Russian NS pagan/folk. I really don't like this kind of thing. If you are a fan of Temnozor or Kroda this might be worth checking out. |
| Volkssturm | The Observance of Winter in Olderfather Hall | Uh, pagan/heathen black ambient. This is some strange shit. For those of you who are open minded. Limited to 333 copies on Sad Spirit Productions. |
| Vorkuta | Into the Chasms of Lunacy | Probably the most important material, A milestone in the history of hungarian black metal band, Vorkuta. The debut album, Into The Chasms Of Lunacy finally availble on tape. Epic and majestic but still old-school black metal from the depths of the hungarian woods! Limited to 300 copies on Ruin Productions. |
| Vorkuta/Heldontod | Monument | Two Hungarian bands teaming up on this split. Vorkuta offers three tracks, the first being an ambient intro. Starts off slow and depressive then picks up to a more mid-paced tempo. Decent production and real drums. Heldentod contributes four tracks of traditional black metal with a slight touch of rawness. Hans Sista Vinter cover included. Limited to 300 copies on Ruin Productions. |
| Vredgad | Hatets Natt | New Swedish band. Buzzing guitars, dry screamed vocals, real drums, mid-paced. Released by Rott, limited to 200 copies. |
| Vrztmur | The Dark Psalm for the Black Legions | This demo does pay an homage to The Black Legions. Perhaps not so much in a musical sense but you can tell it is there. Simple black metal with a very crude production, rough and quite underproduced. The layou is also crude as well, complimenting the style of the band, old school xerox style! Northern Sky Productions. |
| VTA | Vesuvian Thrashing Attack | Italian old school thrash metal. Tour de Garde. |
| Vucub Came | Vomito Negro | Re-issue of the first demo. Raw French black metal. Some odd vocal effects used. Perhaps this band is influenced by ZBT. Symbolic Prods/Masochrist. |
| Vulturine | Cathartes Aura | Hailing from Brazil this is the 2nd demo from this band. Three tracks plus an intro. Very clean black metal, mostly mid-tempo. Goat Music Records. |
| Waldgefluster | Stimmem im Wind | One man German band. Pretty atmospheric material. Good variety with slow and faster parts as well, even some acoustic work. Nice raw sound to round it out. Limited to 150 copies on Irminsul Records. |
| Warfare | Voices From Hell | Chilean black metal. Now this is very lo-fi. Sound quality is very low and they must have used basic, primitive recording equipment. |
| WarFront | Die or March | Short two track demo. The band describes their style as holocaust thrash/black metal. Rough production, rehearsal sound. Winterreich Records. |
| Wedard | Eiskrieg | Mini-album from this German duo. Very atmospheric material. Seems as if they are going for something like Nyktalgia. Vocals are quite high pitched. Better than playing the typical blasting black metal many Germans do. Four tracks for twenty-five minutes. Limited to 250 copies on Infernal Kommando Records. |
| Weeping Birth | A Painting of Raven and Rape | Brutal black death metal or something. This dude sure knows how to play but shit, the opening seconds just terrified me....one of the most horrendous drum machines I have ever heard. This guy plays and records everything in his bedroom! |
| Weltbrand | Radiance of a Thousand Suns | Dutch outfit featuring a member of Funeral Winds. Some strange stuff. The odd numbered tracks are ambient that have a spacey/electroindustrial feel to them. The even numbered tracks are very clean and slick sounding black metal tracks. Seventeen tracks in all, over seventy minutes. Stuza Production. |
| Werewolves of Venice/Godemiche | We are the Light of a Fullmoon | Four tracks from each band on this split, both from the US. Werewolves is quite a strange band. The flow of the tracks are very slow, doom like. Not your typical bm band, that's for sure. Godemiche is more along the traditional lines, rough and dirty sound, interesting vocal approach. Limited to 66 copies on Eradication Process Productions. |
| Wewelsburg | Im deinst der Deutsche Wehrmacht | Uh, kind of at a loss for words on this one. It sure isn't black metal. NS metal with some synths straight out of the 1980's. |
| Wewelsburg | The Antiarchitect | More strangeness from this Russian band. Maybe this is just a novelty thing, I don't know. The synth sounds are just something else. At least this release is more metal sounding. |
| Wicher/Fenriz | The Severe Winter Wind | This is a look back in time. Release features the demos from both of these Polish bands from 1995 and 1996. As you might expect, both recordings are quite raw and underproduced. Not in the Polish style but done the northern way with a good shitty sound. Four tracks from Wichar and five from Fenriz (including a Darkthrone cover). Limited to 222 copies on Moon Records. |
| Wilk | Hammer of Hate | Not yet in stock, on the way. |
| Winter Decadence | Lacrime di Solitudine Invernale | Nothing but ambient on this demo. Reminiscent of the later Burzum albums. AMF Productions. |
| Winterfrost | Worship The Blood Of The Pagan Supremacy | The production goes back and forth from song to song. It is either lo-fi and thin or more cleaned up where the drum machine is more noticeable. Gates to Valhalla. |
| Wintergate | Slave of Satan | One man German project(?). First thing noticed is the pop of the snare. Some symphonic traits are present, otherwise traditional Nordic bm. Limited to 200 copies. |
| Wolfpack | All Day Hell | Official cassette re-issue of this classic record by the Swedish band now-known as Wolfbrigade. Brutal D-beat attack!!! Rotting Chapel Propaganda. |
| Woods of Ypres | Against The Seasons | Night Birds Records. |
| Worg | Black Void Abyss | Second demo from this US band. Very raw and rough, don't hear too many bands like this these days even in the demo phase. Another plus is that there are real drums used. People who are into the real demo sound will probably like this. Limited to 66 copies on Eradication Process Productions. |
| Wurm | Oublis | Latest offering from this one man Canadien band. Five tracks clocking in at thirty seven minutes. Slow to mid-paced sorrowful, melancholic black metal in the Burzum vein. Very nice heavily distorted guitars. Also includes a Burzum cover. Teutonic Satan. |
| Wyrd | Wrath & Revenge | Compilation featuring tracks taken from the Unchained Heathen Wrath demo, Songs from the Nonrthern Gale promo and Of Revenge and Bloodstained Swords demo. No bonus track, same as the cd. Excellent pagan/heathen metal. Winterreich Productions. |
| Wyrd | Heathen | One very long, long track of epic heathen/pagan metal. This is the only Wyrd tape out of these that does not have a bonus track. Another excellent Wyrd release. Winterreich Productions. |
| Wyrd | Huldrafolk | Wyrd still in top form on this one before things started to change. Nobody does the style better. Bonus track included as well. Winterreich Productions. |
| Wyrd | Vargtimmen Pt. 1 | This is where Wyrd started to change a bit. The sound has improved considerably from older recordings. However this album is still very solid. Again contains a bonus track. Winterreich Productions. |
| Wyrd | Vargtimmen Pt. 2 | The conclusion of Vargtimmen, in the newer style. Majestic and epic as is the style for Wyrd. Includes a bonus track as well. Winterreich Productions. |
| Wyrd | Rota | Full length from 2005. The tape version features different artwork than the cd. It also includes an unreleased rehearsal track from 2005. Winterreich Productions. |
| Wyrd | The Ghost Room | Full length from 2006. The artwork is very similar to that of the cd. Tape version also contains an unreleased rehearsal track from 2006. Winterreich Productions. |
| Xasthur | Suicide in Dark Serenity | Another one of Malefic's finest works in my opinion. Continuing on the path he blazed of claustrophobic, cacophonous, soulless black metal. The layout is the same as used on the cd, full color as well. Despite what people say Xasthur has been one of the only bands from US soil to actually make an impact. Northern Sky Productions. |
| Xerberth | Fuerzas del Mal | Debut demo from this Bolivian band. Traditional black metal but the sound here is a little rough and lo-fi, which adds a nice touch. Four tracks plus a Maniac Butcher cover. Limited to 501 copies on Diabolous Productions. |
| Yfel-Dond | Aetlaetnes Aet Abraham | New US band from the east coast. Dirty demo sound, grunting-growling type vocals, drum machine. Self-released pro tape. |
| Yperite/Charogne | Split | Split between two bands from the Hate Korp. Yperite plays war metal. Very fast programmed drums and a dual vocal approach at times. Five tracks on their side, one being an Angelcorpse cover. Chargone is a good match. Their material is somewhat similar style wise but with more traditional bm elements. They also cover Grand Belial's Key. Infernal Kommando Records. |
| Zadogoat | Nekkrokunt | Two dirty Krauts playing some bestial black metal. The sound is not the best. The guitar is more prominent in one channel and the drums are more prominent in the other. Six tracks in total. |
| Zarach Baal Tharagh/The Dead Musician | Split | ZBT material on this split is Demo 42 The Final Chapter. It's not a full on assault like most of his releases, more variety. The Dead Musician contributes three tracks which provide a contrast to the ZBT style. Very clean sounding, programmed drums and shouted vocals. Also a Mayhem cover, how original. Limited to 333 copies on Winterreich. |
| Zarach Baal Tharagh | Purgatory | One of the newest ZBT demos I think. Shredding guitar work and very distorted vox. Chaotic and raw sounding as usual! Limited to 96 copies on Folterkammer Records. |
| Zarach Baal Tharagh | Tribute to Black Sheep | Short demo on this one, six tracks at just over fifteen minutes. Material on this demo dates back to 2002, ZBT in an earlier form, quite solid. Limited to 96 copies on Folterkammer Records. |
| Zarach Baal Tharagh | Metal Bastard | Six tracks on demo 37. Not as chaotic as past demos. A more simple approach on this one. Released by Infernal Kommando Records. |
| Zarach Baal Tharagh | Dementia | Demo 38. One very, very long track (46 minutes). Mostly on the slow side but interjected with some fast part at times. Infernal Kommando Records. |
| Zarach Baal Tharagh | Real Life Evil Dream | Demo 43 consisting of 12 tracks, just under 28 minutes. This one jumped out at me right away. Real nasty lo-fi production. Quite the variety on this demo, probably the best ZBT demo of late. Infernal Kommando Records. | Zarach Baal Tharagh | False Bootleg | And here we have the latest demo from the Frenchman who never seems to take a break. Same overall style is what you can expect. But this time things are a little different, some weird effects/manipulations are added to parts of the songs. | Zarach Baal Tharagh/Veratyr | Halucinations | Veratyr plays fast, crushing bm. Raw and dirty sound here, 8 tracks. ZBT contributes one long track. |
| Zarach Baal Tharagh | Minimal Bastard Art | Demo 36 from the insane Frenchman who never quits. Raw and in your face, love it or hate it. |
| A.lixiva | Les Froids Relents | New release from this Canadien neo-folk outfit all sung in French. Serene sounds to let your mind wander on a lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon. |
| Mathew Nicholls | Recording Sessions 05/06 | Minimal clean guitar work with an undeniable feeling of emptiness. Five untitled tracks recorded in various sessions between '05 and '06 |
| Mature Audience | Wheelchair Love Affair | There is nothign nice about this release. Nothing but dark harsh noise. A wall of destruction from the mind of a lone Frenchman. Ripping, vicious and extreme. |
| Rutger H | Untitled | Seven tracks of unrelenting power electronics from Finland. Primitive psychotic analogue soundscapes. |
| Tchernoblyad | Love | Russian noise mixed with short wave radio transmissions. Osolon |
